High intensity functional training (HIFT) has been implemented in order to improve physical performance; Its execution in different sports training sessions has optimized the results, being decisive in neuro-muscular strengthening. Branches such as health have implemented this type of training, as a treatment in physical and mental recovery. The objective of this review is to analyze the scientific production on high-intensity functional training in sport and health, to verify its effect on sports performance and physical well-being of people. We searched for studies in different databases such as Scopus and Web of Science (WOS), for the search of information the keywords "functional training" and "sport" were used, the search terms were translated into English with the equation of: "Functional Training" AND "Sports". Bibliographic sources disclosed between 2017 and 2021 were consulted. In a first instance, 110 documents were identified and applying the exclusion criteria, 11 documents that met the inclusion criteria were determined. It is concluded that the application of HIFT high-intensity functional training promotes physical improvement, sports performance and in the area of health accelerates physical and mental recovery.
