Social Networks and Cultural Transformation: An Analysis of Acculturation in Students

Abstract

Since the epidemic caused by the "SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus", students in the rural sector use digital media more frequently to share knowledge and information, an aspect that generates concern for all those interested in cultural strengthening, since its excessive use and lack of solid formation in identity, would lead students to adapt to other cultures, affecting their native legacy. Given this situation, this research seeks to explore the impact of social platforms on the cultural adaptation of students from indigenous communities. The methodology applied is of mixed approach, result of the numerical and descriptive combination. The data were processed through statistical analysis and the technique used was the survey through Google Forms; the study population was fifty third-year students of the Unified General Baccalaureate of Zonal 6 of education. It is concluded that online communities can be identity forgers as well as causes of acculturation.
